My mate went into an orange shop the otherday to upgrade his phone, the contract expires March next year, but he was offered to upgrade early for £50... does anyone know if O2 do something like that, because I'd love to upgrade to the K850 when it comes out?

I think your mate is messing with you.
Either he bought a PAYG or he got a new contract.

Normally it means they have entered a new contract! I'd tell him to check the small print!

We went in, and he went to the till and said I think i'm due for an upgrade. The woman at the till asked for his details, and then when it came up with his account said your not due for and upgrqade till March next year, but you can upgrade today for £50!

My contract with O2 was due to expire this month but because I upgraded early In October of last year to get the P990 from them it now means my contract runs until October this year as oppose to August.
It sounds like this may be what they have done! it's worth checking!

O2 normally let you upgrade 2 months before the end of your contract without any penalties. I have actually managed to talk them into letting me upgrade 6 months into a 12 month contract for free by saying that I want my PAC code as itwould be cheaper for me to go to another network.

@ JC
Didn't you enter into a new contract with the upgrade though?
