Nuisance Neighbour Arrested for Waterbombing Couple
A 60-year-old Tokyo man notorious for his prickly relations with other residents of his apartment block has been arrested for hurling water over his elderly next-door neighbors after they visited him to make a complaint, police said.
Koji Hoshino, from Koto-ku, admits to allegations of assault, but blames the 74-year-old man and his 65-year-old wife for provoking him.
"They were the bad ones. How can you get arrested just for throwing water?" Hoshino told the police.
Police said earlier this week Hoshino kicked his next-door neighbor's door and screamed "Shut up!" When the neighbors went to Hoshino's apartment to complain, he threw water over them, police said.
Hoshino has had trouble with his neighbors for the past few years, after acts including painting a shared corridor without permission, scrawling graffiti over the apartment block's mailbox area and sticking a poster reading "liar" on one resident's front door, police said. (Mainichi)
