How much quicker should GPRS Wap be than normal Wap. I was under the impression that you would see a noticable difference between the two, but seems the same speed to me.

I am using the settings from Sony Ericcson if that helps?

Cheers

I think GPRS is supposed to be quicker because you dont have to wait for it to dial up a connection... but I think the tranfer rates are supposed to be the same. Though I can't swear to that.

It also might change from one network to another. I think it is the same on Orange partly because I think I remember reading that it was, and partly because they offer a High Speed Data package which they probably wouldn't if GPRS was really nifty

When u use HSCSD then GPRS should be about twice as fast, but you wont notice a big difference cause wap pages r only a few kb. This post was posted from a T68i

Theoretically, GPRS offers fast browsing speeds, but in reality in say a city during peak hours, you are not likely to get more than the speed of an average CSD connection (downloads of 1 k per second). In less-congested areas, you should be able to clock 5k per second though.

The reason is that each GPRS connection shares the cell's bandwidth resources with all other ongoing connections. If youhad all the available slots to yourself, you'd clock over 100kbps

Take a look at this article by Steve litchfield: http://3lib.ukonline.co.uk/introgprs.htm

HSCSD offers the fastest speed.
GPRS offers faster than CSD speeds, but can degrade to a full stop if there is enough usage in the region.
CSD is a solid speed, but again, GPRS normally his running quicker.

UMTS - well - that's just the shiznit.
