Got brand new P990i today. Trying to use update servvice - installed - using Vista. On opening, get the message "could not locate Java Virtual Machine". I have just downloaded and installed the JRE application but still get the message.
Have changed it to run in compatibility mode Win XP. Any ideas please?

I just got my P990i earlier this week and yes I did manage to get it updated on Vista. I used "Windows XP SP2" compatibility mode and ran it as an administrator.
In my case the last stage of the firmware update, where it uploads the firmware to the phone from the PC, it was stuck at 100% for about ten minutes if not more, so I took the chance and unplugged the phone. It rebooted and after setup, I determined that it had indeed been updated to the newest firmware.
Try at your own risk.

Tried that and still got the same message. Had enough of it already and I've only had it four hours! It just ran out of memory on me and I have nothing installed, doing nothing, I can't believe it!! It won't sync.
Is this all due to Vista or what, cannot remember having these problems before?

Make sure user account control is turned on.
In the 'compatibilty' tab select 'show settings for all users'
Then make sure those settings are set to 'Windows XP Sp2', and 'run as administrator'.
That should work, it did for me.

I have just started the SEUS on my Vista ultimate and from the beginning it started to show the window COULD NOT FIND JVM INSTALLED and closed... After getting to properties of the Update Executable I have changed the compatibility mode to Win XP SP2 and ticked the Run As Administrator.
Works FINE!!!
