Hi! please help me, I am having problems with updating my world generic 2 p990 to the latest firmware. At the point where I press C and plug in the USB cable it will always pop up the "Found New Hardware" balloon. Then when I try to update it will go to 1% then will give me an Error: Update failed. Please disconnect the phone and try again then sometimes a dialog box will come up saying: Unable to communicate with server. Application will close down. (sometimes this dialog box does not come up). The weird thing is once I retry It will go to 2% then will stop then the same error : Update failed will come up. next time I retry it goes to 3% quickly then same error. It seems that it is downloading the update but 1% at a time. I am currently at 15% and once I retry the update it will go through 16% very quickly then will stop there then the error message will come up. Please I need help. I've already spent 9 hours trying to figure out whats wrong. But I still encounter the same error message T_T. Thanks in advance.
I've already disable other software running and also tried using the other USB ports on my computer. I've also tried using the desk stand.
BTW: sorry if I posted this on the wrong section. Im new here. Please move it to the correct section.

Welcome to Esato!
Here is what you could try:
* Close the SEUS application
* Remove & reinsert the battery
* On your PC go to C:\Program Files\SonyEricsson\Update Service\db and delete the subfolder.
Don't worry, it will be created again on your next update attempt.
Now try again..
The 'found new hardware' balloon will appear everytime you connect your phone in flash mode. Don't care about it.
Just keep the 'c' button pressed until 'Release the c button' appears.

thanks for the speedy reply. I'll try that in a while. I've tried uninstalling and I'm currently reinstalling SEUS.
BTW will multiple failed attempts in updating my phone damage it in any way? Hopefully it doesn't.
Thanks again.

now I can't even reinstall SEUS. T_T. I'm starting to lose hope...
I always get stuck on "finalizing" I've waited more than an hour but still get stucked. I end tasked the SEUS then restarted it and I get this:
BTW i've deleted the db folder after that error message on top and now I don't get the error message anymore, But I'm still stuck on Finalizing...
Oh Problems T_T...
Anyway I still thank you guys for trying to help me. Hopefully I get through this. because I really want that update coz I heard its faster than my current firmware which is the one before it T_T..

You are having problems connecting to the seus server, cause either you are unable to dl the firmware or you get stuck even earlier, while checking and downloading patches for the seus app.
So this could either be a bad connection or a conflict with your firewall.
What is your OS, connection type and firewall app ?

I agree with myth.71. I think it's an issue on your internet connection. I have this type of problem before when I was using dial-up. Since I changed to dsl connection, I don't have this problem anymore...

WIN XP SP2
FW is ZoneAlarm and I also have a TP-link WIFI
but i've already disabled ZA and Kaspersky and also bypass my router by connecting my computer directly to my modem. (Wired)
ADSL - only 128 kbps - (I got past "finalizing" once when I first installed it)
thanks again.
