I've been looking to get a transmiter for my k800i, so I can listen to my MP3's through the car radio. Dose/Can a K800i put my MP3's over bluetooth, I'm finding it dificult to understand how, as isn't bluetooth a mono signal?

you need a phone with Bluetooth A2DP Profile. A2DP is the bluetooth stereo audio profile

So whats the best way of getting round this? I have HP70 ear buds, the ones where you can plug a cassette adapter in, but I tend to find I get alot of Noise and can hear the phone "Cycling" as the signal is picked up through the wire to the cassette. It's also a pain if I take a call as it come through the car speakers too.

Looking at the official SE website shows you have four options:

The Carkit with Speaker Interface method
The A2DP (BT Stereo) method
The FM Transmitter method
The Cable method

The Carkit with Speaker Interface method
K800i -> HCA-60 + HCE-26 -> Your existing Head Unit
This will require professsional installation and has the advantage of charging the phone while playing music. The drawbacks have been discussed here.

The A2DP (BT Stereo) method
K800i -> A2DP Head Unit or
K800i -> MBR-100 A2DP Adapter -> Your existing Head Unit
Purchase either an A2DP compatible Head Unit such as the Sony MEX-BT2500 or MEX-BT5000 or the Pioneer 7900BT... (see review here) or an A2DP adapter such as the MBR-100. I'm not sure if it has RCA leads or not so check this out first in-case your existing Head Unit hasn't got RCA inputs. Alpine have a solution which involves a high-end head unit and an Alpine plug-in A2DP adaptor, mentioned in page 2 of the first discussion link. A2DP is probably the best option as far as sound quality is concerned.

The FM transmitter method
K800i -> MMR-70 -> Your existing Head Unit
Definately the easiest method. Can't charge and play music at the same time so you'll need to keep battery life in mind or get a CMT-60 travel charger or have a wall charger at work and at home.

The Cable method
K800i -> MMC-60 or MMC-70 -> Your existing Head Unit IF it has front 3.5mm Input socket or rear mounted RCA line-in sockets.
Simple to install but sound quality will suffer. How much of an Audiophile are you?

I use an MMC-60 cable at home with my V630i and home Hifi system, sound quality is ok but not great. The other methods I haven't tried but others have. Good Luck!

The cassette adapter is not a very good solution. It needs mechanics to rotate the dummy tape reels in order to convince the cassette player that there sctually is a cassette tape in the drive, and the transmisison of the signal goes through the magnetic coils that normally is supposed to pick up the magnetic wave inprints on the tape. This makes the system very sensitive for noise and disturmance, and it is very sensitive for external magnetic fields, such as the radio waves from the movile phone, for example.

There are only a few good solutions for your problem:

A car stereo that is bluetooth enabled, i.e. it can receive the A2DP blutooth signal from the phone. These are still very rare and expensive, though.
A cable connected to the aux input of the radio. If there isn't such an input, you may have to open the stereo and solder in a cable in an apropriate place. This requires some soldering skills and knowledge about how it's done, of course.
An FM transmitter connected to the phone (like MMR-70). This solution may not be legal in some countries.

Something like that Your entry wasn't there when I read the thread, you seem to have beaten me on the finishing line, submitting your entry while I was still writing mine, but we seem to have came to almost the same conclusion. I forgot about the advanced car kit, but that is a too expensive solution anyway. The FM transmitter - where it is legal - seems to be the least expensive and simplest solution. Here in Sweden, you can get such a transmitter (not the MMR-70 though) for about 150 SEK ( ~= $22 or £11)

I use an fm transmitter and have found it a good solution. I have installed an inline fm transmitter in my car (it plugs in line with the antenna and stereo - metal to metal - so the signal get's through with very little chance of interference)

The transmitter is powered by the car electrics, so I don't have to worry about batteries or running the phone dead too quickly (as would occur with mrr-70).

When I'm not in my own car I use a 2xAAA powered belkin fm transmitter (I use rechargeable AAA cells) with the hpm-70. This also works very well for me, though some people (etaab being one) have had problems with belkin fm transmitters.

Here's another A2DP option - MBR-100 A2DP BT adapter.
Edited post above.

any decision yet?

Not yet, the adaptor has moved to the bottom of the list now due to MOT failing on exhaust, brakes and suspension bushes. I'm temted to get a pushbike and settle for headphones! LOL
