I know its mentioned on the SonyEricsson website and everywhere else that M-600 has 262K color screen but in the Swiss Mgr Pro under the system tab the colors mentioned are 16384K. This makes it 16million according to Swiss Mgr Pro

The number of colors displayed by Swiss Manager is reported by a corresponding system function. This value tends to be lower than the true number of colors that the phone can indeed display. The true color display capability is described in your phone's user manual.

In plain english, when browsing thru menus you don't need 262k colours, but only 65k that's why the SM reports only that. Also, when viewing photos or videos the screen CAN render a maximum off 262k colours in theory. I don't really know in practice - they say that after 65k the human eyes can't see much of a difference.

the only distinguishable characteristics of a higher color depth is that it has deeper black colors, higher contrast and brighter colors, but a human eye can only discern up to 6-7Million colors. so if we have a phone with 6 million colors and the other one to be even 4Billion one(32bit) while both having the same contrast and brightness level. there is no difference indeed
so imho 16M colors is just too much
