Hi guys. We got a strange problem, here in Italy.
Here we have three operators: T*M, W*ND, and OMN*TEL. All T68i owners were happy with them, without any problem. Until has come sw R5A, R5C & R5D. After upgrade, often (not everytime) phones with T*M operator start to drop the line after few (10-120) seconds of conversation. Sometimes it's very difficult to finish a call. Upgraded phones with others operators still working fine. Operator replayed complains with: It's no my problem. SE replays: we don't know anything abt that.
This problem is regarding a lot of owner and we discussed abt it for a long time in some forum.
Somebody could downgrade back to sw R2E and the problem disappeared, but most of SE Centre are not able to downgrade. I've read about some problems T68i has to switch 900-1800 MHz, but I'm not sure if this is the reason. Does anybody knows anything abt that? (Cytech, in particular....
)

I remember some of them R1A - R3A. No news abt R4A.

it's a combination of hardware and software... it has been problems with earlier sw versions as well, but it's more noticeable with sw after R5A

Well, Cytech, I have a lot of questions!!
Has the HW part of the problem been fixed, now?
If yes, which HW version (or production batch) and later can be considered "safe"?
Is the SW part of the problem going to be fixed by the next SW release?
Can older phones be fixed only with SW upgrade or need to pass through SE Center for a while?
and "dulcis in fundo":
I have a T68i HW R4A SW R2E006, is it safe for me to upgrade to R5D?

Latest hw for T68i is currently R8A... versions between R4A and R7A I can't say how they are, cause they have never existed here in Sweden, at least not out on the market. But it should have been fixed in R7A.
It doesn't help on older phones just by doing a sw upgrade (unless they have R2B025 or earlier in sw version).
If the problem is fixed or not in next version I don't know... we'll just have to wait and see.
If you don't have much problems with your phone I suggest you wait with the upgrade, cause it might just make things worse, that's at least what I have seen after upgrading some T68i and they have been brought back to us within a few weeks.

If I have such phone, I can't deal with that problem!
Sometimes it's very hard to make a call!
If I have it, I would like to get my phone fixed by a SE service centre. What can I say to them to be sure they identify and solve the problem? Is there any technical document or bulletin to reference?
Here almost SE service are not aware of that.
Is it possible to get more precise information abt which are hardware versions with this bug?

Is this a hardware fault ?
