Ok, so I like the P1, but I'm this close to throwing it out of the window.

I synchronise my P1 over the air to an Exchange server using Exchange Active Sync. I have no control over the entries in my calendar, as other colleagues can put them in there.

There are two settings for the reminder alarm for calendar entries: one in the phone's control panel:devices and one in the calendar alarms and settings menu. I have both set to silent.

I cannot stop the reminders from making that annoying noise continuously for up to 30 seconds. What am I doing wrong here? Why can I not stop the reminders?

Ok, so no one replies telling me what I'm doing wrong.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem also? I want to take my phone down to the Kensington store on Thursday to see the "expert", so if you could tell me if it's a common problem, I'd really be grateful.

I only type calendar reminders direct into my phone. You seem to be a high-useage business user, I'm not sure there are too many on this forum. I could be wrong. It isn't that everyone is ignoring you, it's that we don't have an answer! :- (

High use business user here

The only solution would be to change the default calendar alarm to silent

Which has already been done. Both the control panel and the setting for alarm within calendar is set to silent. The phone does not exhibit the expected functionality.

I have subsequently used the "Reset Calendar" option within the Exchange Active Sync software on the P1, having set all the options to silent. I had hoped that this might make all the new appointments have the new "silent" reminder. It has now sync'ed all the appointments back in and they do still have a reminder, but at least it's better than the one that I had previously.

If anyone else is experiencing similar problems, please feel free to comment.

I use Exchange/Outlook and P1 in the same way as you do. The synchronization between the P1 and Exchange is working for me (regarding alarms, though there are other issues)
Each user that enters appointments into your calendar must set default alarms to "Off" in their Outlook otherwise the new entries will trigger an alarm. This is an Outlook/Echange feature and not related to synchronization.

Exactly. Whenever I research a product, be it a mobile phone or whatever, I always know more about it than the salersperson trying to flog it. That's before I even get the device in my hands! Those of us who have played with the P1i for a few days/weeks will know way more than some poxy salesperson down the local mobile emporium.

Ok, so I found out what the problem is. When ActiveSync sets a calendar appointment, that appointment is set with the default Calendar Alarm, according to the sound set in the Theme.

Of course, the Theme I was using didn't have a Calendar Alarm sound set to it, but the Default Theme did (Smooth).

I took the theme I wanted into Theme Creator. Created a blank .wav sound and added that to the profile. Perfect. Now I get silent calendar alarms and I'm much much happier with the P1i.

I love it. Thanks for helping out, though, guys (se).

Pls. explain in mote detail what you did to get rid of the meeting appointment alarm sound.

I have the same problem and have also set to silent everywhere but still have the meeting appointments alarm creating sound.

I use the Amazonia theme, if this is of importance.

Thanks!
