I lost (or maybe it was stolen) a brand new w880i on the weekend, I called up to operator and cancelled the sim and blacklisted the phone.

Just wondering what can still be used on the phone, can the menus (music player and that) still be accessed? And are they easy to un-blacklist. I know if I do find it I can get my operator to un-block it but is it easy for the man down the market to un-block?

The only way for someone who doesnt own the phone to unblock it is to change the IMEI number. This is illegal in most countries. They also ship them abroad as they are only blocked in the country they were first blocked in.
They can still access all the phones functions except for send ing messages and making calls.

That sux’s a bit. If it was stolen the thief could be using it like a ipod or something. Dam…

It will only be blacklisted in the UK I'm afraid - I took a blocked K800i to Corfu and it worked fine.

The phone could also be used for spares - parts like the screen, cam unit, fascia if it's in good nick can all be used and give the phone some value.

Do manufacturers check the operators to see whether the phones been blocked though? I mean Samsung are sorting my IMEI issue out after I entered a code believing it would unlock the phone..

My phones IMEI was Reset and itwas set to ZERO's lmao!
