I had a SE K750i and just upgraded to a P1i. When sending text messages, I have noticed that I get a message alert after a message sends in addition to when a message is received. Because I text a lot, this behavior is a little annoying and depletes the battery twice as fast as it has to. I didn't experience this with the K750i.
So is it possible to check the status of a sent message without it sending an alert? I assume that it's alerting because a new message has "arrived" in the sent items folder.

Ive never used SE, but i can tell that the problem you have is probably in your text message settings. Its highly posible that you are mising it from the settings mate. Check from there.

Disable it from the settings.

I've looked at the settings and cannot identify a setting to disable new alerts for status report messages. Can you tell me what setting you are referring to?

@Zakky
It's actually the same as with k750.
The only difference is that the alert tone for the delivery report is the same as for incoming messages.
So you have 3 choices (but there is none, where you can check the delivery status w/o the sound alert):
1. on (sound alert with dialog)
2. on (sound alert w/o dialog)
3. off
Tools - control panel - messaging - sms account

I find this very annoying. I don't want a full alert for each delivery report, just want to knowit has been delivered!

Is there any possibility to change alert signal for delivery reports to have it different form sms alert? Perhaps some third party software?

No, unfortunately the status report is announced as a normal mesage. The option is to either turn the status reports on or off.
