Hi all,
Well that's it for now for me i am all burnt out, i have been involved in the Mobile Phone industry since pre launch in 1985. I couldn't even guess as to how many devices i have owned used and tested nor the amount of money i have spent on them either. But at 47 and retired that is it i have know had enough as in 22 years i am still awaiting my ultimate convergence device that does it all to arrive.
Don't get me wrong it has been an eventful journey and i have enjoyed great parts of it as it has developed but it's time to call a stop to my addiction and realise that is unlikely to actually deliver everything i want.
As i have been retired since 1999 due to health issues and i really have no need for what i seek other than to see if it can be done and just how good it could be. I'm calling time out and stopping this never ending quest for better and faster devices as in reality i just don't need it for the way i live my life now.
Just since last June i have owned and used
Sony Ericsson P910
Motorola V3
Nokia N70
Sony Ericsson M600
Nokia N73
Nokia N93
Nokia 8800 Special Edition
Nokia E61
Nokia N95
Nokia E90
That's 10 devices in just 14 months and usually more than one device at a time, finally as HSDPA begins to roll out i can see that Mobile data will start to reach it's full potential but i don't really need it any more is the sad fact. So the question i have to ask myself is why bother and i really can't find a sensible answer to continue with my continued expenditure. I am really past the point of feeling the need to try and impress anyone with the devices i own and as due to my ill health am at home a minimum of 20hrs a day i am just wasting my time and money and whilst previously it has been what i enjoy and a distraction from focusing on my pain i am at last bored and no longer care.
I have just reduced my devices down to my one favourite all round device for what i actually need a Nokia E61, i will not get another device now until it's true replacement arrives as in reality it does all i need to my satisfaction.
It's been fun but i have had enough of wasting my money on playing with tech toys that usually always manage to fall short of my expectations and just can't be bothered any longer to see what every new device brings.
Marc

I really thought you had found the perfect device in the e90 but obviously not!
Still, the e61 is a superb device and definitly a keeper.
and on a non mobile related note, i didn't relise you were 47, i pictured you alot younger (not in a bad way! )

Oh man it looks like you have been adicted in these technology toys. Imagine someone owning ten phones in fourteen months. There is an old saying which says once you pop you cant stop unless the pops are finished. However it looks like you want to turn things. If you have heard enough I gues and bet you can call it a day. Man I did not think that you are that grown up.

@all,
Firstly thanks for the kind comments, the E90 is an awesome device and IMHO the most powerful and advanced smart phone around, but as i have said elsewhere it is not the ultimate convergence device i was seeking.
For those of you who believed i never say anything negative about Nokia here goes, Nokia have like others segmented their markets and because the E series is a business device it only gets a E series Music Player. By mobile device standards this is still a good player but as it shares the same hardware as the N95 it is capable of a lot more and IMHO should of got the same player as the N95.
But really i have just realised i am chasing a dream that can't be fulfilled as yet and as i really don't need all the things i was seeking have just decided to stop what is just a very expensive hobby. Of course i will still watch and observe what happens but just not going to keep buying and changing devices when i really don't need them.
