I am in the process of buying a BST-40 but since all pictures shown, do NOT really show BST-40 and the mAh, I wonder how I could find out if those Batteries are really what they say!
Swiss Manager Pro doesn't show anything relevant about Battery. I don't know if they can and will implement in their next release such info.
So in the meantime, anyone know about a program or a way to find out what the real figures are from a battery used in a P990?
Especially since all the BST-33 I see that are being sold are 900mAh!!! Whereas the Batteries that come with the P990s are 950(!) even though they are called BST-33 !

Okay, again: anybody ??? There must be a possibility to manually find out if a battery is what it claims to be !?!

My BST-40 in my P1 says its 1120mAh and it definately lasts longer than the BST-33 in my M600!

I understand. But how would you REALLY KNOW if such a battery bought separately REALLY is what is says outside?
If you check i.e. eBay, there are 90% or more... FAKES. But you see that mostly already from the outside.
So, I want to check somehow to find out if its real. I can imagine that a SE phone would say..."alien battery" perhaps... but don't know for sure.

I've got a feeling the phone should alert you if its not an authorised battery... Im sure i've seen it somewhere or heard about it, just cant remember where?! ... Actually, i think it may be similar to when it says 'Optimised Charging' when you plug in an official charger...
I know what you mean though, how do you really know unless you get it with the phone or in an SE store, or official retailer...
Im sure someone like
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk would be fine... Ebay is iffy...

I used a $6,- 900 mAh in my P990i for quite a long time as a spare battery. It did not reach the capacity of the original BST-33 - but there has never been any indication that it is an "Alien Battery". The phone just behaved as it would be original.
The only way would be an infochip on the battery (I don't know if there is any) - and even those get faked.

In the service menu on the K850, the Labels option shows the words "Alien battery". WIthout quiting the browser I can't check on the P990.

There is nothing about batteries on the P990 service menu.

Perhaps its time that someone comes up with say a Java Program or so, that can identify a battery as tell some facts about it.
Expecially with those aftermarket and fake batteries that are being sold every day on ebay and other sources. I think its a useful prog to being able to check

Get a battery from a SE store and you'll be certain it's not a fake. If I'd need a spare battery, I really wouldn't care if it's a fake or not. Too much trouble for nothing!
