New program has been released, called
BallRoom.
Briefly about what it does. As you all know, the upper-left corner of the phone's screen generally displays the icon of the foreground application. The purpose of BallRoom is to take over that (fairly idle) icon area and replace it with something else that you choose.
The contents of the top and bottom halves of the icon area can be configured separately in BallRoom's main view. Animated GIF is one of the possible choices. Actions to perform when touching icon portions can also be defined. After making your settings, just use the phone as usual, and enjoy that it became a little bit more informative and entertaining.
Features:
- Replaces the icon area for all non-fullscreen applications.
- Selectable display contents include time, date, free memory, battery level, image, and more.
- Selectable actions on touching the icon include various task management, status message, and more.
- Separate content and action can be defined for icon portions.
- Compatible with all UIQ3 phones, including P1 and Z8.
Free trial can be downloaded from
CPS and other major shops. Enjoy!
Latest version is 1.20
Version 1.20 brings in major new functionality, like the ability to permanently display the BallRoom content over any application, and to launch various programs by a single icon touch.

Nice app Lisa...
Just set mine up with the Time and Date (no tapping functionality for me) and its just what was needed!!! Always forget the time and date when I'm emailing etc so this solves that problem!!!
Dont think I'll bother with gifs and jpeg images as the time and date is spot on in my eyes!
Light grey text and a black outline blend in perfectly with the Horizons theme!!!

Nice use of the wasted space
For those who dont have SMP it would be useful to have one of the 'on tap' options as a Favourites list - I use this multi-tasking option a lot
By the way - anything new for SMP soon?

BallRoom uses about 380 KBytes of RAM, which grows when displaying a large animated GIF. Battery consumption is optimized and expected to be negligible, although this may depend on particular conditions on the phone. More details are available in the FAQ, found on our web site.
