For those with the p990i in the USA, i'm wondering how the service and everything is on the phone. I know that using the internet from service providers is really not gonna be worth it, but just wondering how the overall feeling from the phone is.

Thanks,

Exess

Hi Exess, and welcome to Esato. I have the P990i and I live in the US. I think it depends on which service provider you use as to how well the P990 will behave. I have T-Mobile, and the service everywhere is excellent. If you have AT&T, you will miss out on 850 MHz coverage because the P990 does not support it. Unfortunately, data speeds are pretty slow because the 3G doesn't work, so I just use GPRS. Luckily, I have WiFi coverage at home and most places in my city (college town), so I don't have to rely on GPRS much. The P990 also doesn't have EDGE, so data options are a little limited. But everything else works perfectly. I've had the phone for exactly a year now, and I've enjoyed every minute of it. I hope this helps, and just let me know if you have any more questions!

Well I checked gsmworld.com and it showed the att 1900 band coverage to be very good here in california, so i guess i'm not worried about that...mind telling me exactly how the gprs works?

Actually scrap that...figured it out, stupid question, haha, thanks man...

Anyone else, who might be on att...or anyone from the USA in general would be cool

Hey Excess,I have been using my P990i here in the Inland Empire since June this year and coverage with ATT is great so far. However I use the WiFi to get downloads and internet acess with it. When you get into areas where there is the 850 then service drops.

I brought mine from the Caribbean and I have to say that you guys are messed up when it comes to phones and carriers here in the US. Charges for incoming calls and little flexibility to move from carrier to carrier.

SE though is messing up by not including the 850Mhz on their top phones. I don't see why they are not including it on the phones that cost the most and are supposed to be their top of the line even if they are not carrier supported.

Yea, luckily it seems where I live there is 1900 covereage, plus the only places i travel to ever really are LA and Las vegas, which are both covered by 1900 band...

Yea, I understand what you mean for US services, but seeing as most of my friends are on ATT...i really never get charged minutes for anything...thanks for the info...

I'll take more from anyone else, especially if you happen to live in california, but anyone is welcome, just trying to soak up all i can to make sure... thanks guys.

I am in NYC and here T-Mobile has fantastic service, I've never felt that I was missing the 850Mhz band here. My P990i works like a champ here.

I just got my P1 and I'm using AT&T wireless here in San Francisco. So...far the only places that I have issues with are at home and at college but outside of those places everything is fine.
