Today is the 25th anniversary since the first compact disc, Abba's The Visitor, was pressed by Philips in Germany
my first CD player was bought in Hong Kong and was a Sony portable in 1985. This was bought together with a compilation CD call HITS CD which had treasures like Come on Eileen by Dexy's Midnight Runners, and Dream on by Nazareth, and Chance by Big Country and other stuff like that

here is that CD player, called the Discman and apparantly the worlds first portable CD player and it was really great quality compared to those cassettes it replaced.

CDs have become cheap with time, one of my friends bought a pack of 100 Sony CDs last week for 525INR only i.e. 13USD...
