Hi sorry for such a noob question but I just got a W200a and wanted to know
if there was a firmware update for it? I did the phone update and it told me it was already up to date. The version my phone has is CXC1250719 R4GB001 .

Branded phones are hardly updated by SEUS. Check www.wotanserver.com about the latest W200 firmware. Is yours branded?

Branded means locked to operator such as Vodafone, Roger, T Mobile, Hutch/3, TIM and so on. If it isn't branded, it is Generic then, meaning SIM-free.

yes it is branded I think is there a way to check ? this is my first SE phone dont know much about them I've always had Nokia . and if it is do I need to unlock it before ?

Branded phones usually change their icons, shortcuts, or eliminate certain features compared to Generic ones. If you feel OK with the phone and operator/carrier, no need to unlock it. If you want to have completely original SE firmware in it, have it debranded. Check wotanserver to do so. But it won't unlock the phone.
