Is there anyone who has figured it out, how to make the P990i to playback a full length MP4 movie? Obviously there is something with file size or movie duration that makes the media player refuse to play...

The movies plays just fine on my laptop, so the movie seems to be OK.

I tried numerous changes of settings while converting from DVD, but with no luck at all. I have read a few posts about splitting movies into pieces no longer than 60 minutes, to make the 990i to play them, but I would really like to have just one movie!

Anyone?

edit: fixed title spelling

Hmmm... I still wonder why theese 60 minutes are like a magic limit. It is actually the duration of the movie that is the problem then? Some limitation to the media player. Like it coult'nt address more than 60 minutes of movie or something.

I read in some forum, that someone had played a full ipod movie on the phone, so that would point to a limitation of size in bytes maybe?

I used the Smartmovie player with my P910i, but I won't buy it for a phone that should play my movies without a third party application.

I still have hope for a solution, but now I have started to split my movies for the next trip, so I can at least watch it, even if I will have to switch my old VHS cassette for part 2 in the middle of it!

Just use Smart Movie. I played an longer than an hour movie (mp4) encoded with Mpegable. Try that.

Try m3: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=136929&start=0
I have converted a DVD and can play back the full length file, about 100 minutes. I think it is the best converter available for the P990 and it's free.
