The latest Generic version is R1KG001 released around June 2007. For branded, it depends. Some operators don't update at all. Check

select W850 from the list and click Continue:
then,follow the instructions step by step :
then the update service,would recognize your phone and shows you if any newer update is available(must be)
if this is what you've done already and haven't been successful,tell me what exactly do you see after these steps....
ADDED : and,uuhh...what do you mean by 'empty'.
if the latest firmare is already installed,update service would write that the phone currently has the latest firmware and gives you a choice to reflash your phone with the current one...
and if the firmware is not up-to-date,the update service certainly would be ready to update your phone..
so what page is empty????
