Just poking about my phone, found one of the files from Zi Corp., who provides the predictive texting for the P1. In Z:/system/Zi/ theres a file named Zi8DatENUK.z8d.r01 which if you open with a hex editor or the likes, right at the end there are some odd strings
Which brings the obvious question, whats a "yid"? More interestingly why are those strings there grouped together in the first place?

A yid is derogatory slang for a Jew. As for why it's there, I'm taking your word for it here as I haven't checked but could someone have possibly been on his last day at work at wherever programmed it?

Good thinking, probably something like that. Just interesting to point out really.

None of those words come up when typed with predictive text though.

I have just checked this file on my P990i and it is exactly the same!
Two questions spring to mind!!
Why?
and....
How did you come across these!
I've had my P990 10 months and never once thought to check the Zi8DatENUK.z8d.r01 file for profanities!

Someone with too much free time is always first
Well, its more because my phone is acting really odd, it acts like a prototype in the sense that there is no "Continue anyway" in SEUS, but dvt identifies it as a RED phone.
More annoyingly when the phone starts a service starts which sends out status sms's to a number in Sweden (46708441329) which racked a nice 40 pound phone bill up for me this month

. Formatting the internal memory and master reset have no effect.
Thats what started all this nosing about, and I just came across that and had a peek in it

@pwwn3d
Ouch that really sucks £40 is one hell of lot of texts, where did your unit come from? Usually it only sends that type of message the first time you put a Sim in are your removing and changing Sims at all?

@Dogmann
I know, quite a waste. I purchased the unit it Hong Kong. (relatively regular visitor, but won't be able to get it back there for atleast a month!) No, haven't been swapping sims about, its been used for that billing period with only the same sim inserted, never removed during that time.
What worries me is that there is no "Continue anyway" in SEUS, and I read elsewhere that the statusSMS[sent] usually appears on prototype units! (Which is confusing as dvt identifies it as red)
