i made a little research and then found out the why P1i is still using symbian 9.1?!?!

while when you buy N95, it is using symbian 9.2 and when you software upgrade it, it is then symbian 9.3

WTF?!

another, w960 should now be releasing with symbian 9.3. well of course it will be the latest unit of SE which comes with symbian but the problem it is still in symbian 9.1?!?!??!

about the user interface, SE uses UIQ but heres another problem. you see, i thought SE bought the majority shares of UIQ?!? or something like that..

my problem here is.. why P1i still uses UIQ 3 while moto rizr z8 is using UIQ 3.1?!?

what the f***ing h*** with SE?!?

now about w960, ok! since it will be the latest model of SE, so it should be using UIQ3.1 but HEY! the unit will still be using UIQ 3 not UIQ 3.1?!?!?

i was really thingking about buying P1i or w960 when it releases but after this, nevermind.

AFAIK UIQ3.1 is designed for non-touchscreen phones and the lat time Ilooked the P1i and W960i are touchsctreen phones so do not need 3.1.
The latest operating system is not always the best, look at Win xp compared to vista.

Vista is buggy and doesnt support a lot of hardware/software so its best sticking with xp for the present.

Maybe it is a tad buggy, but hey, it is a new OS.
Besides, I've never had software (almost) or harware incompatibilities with vista.
It installs in 15mins and takes care of all the drivers BY ITSELF for about 10 mins.

Still doesnt mean that the new SE symbians need UIQ3.1 as they do not need the support for non-touchscreen phones so UIq3.0 is the correct os for the phones. Maybe when SE are using UIQ3 when UIQ 4 is released it will be worth complaing about.

@dayz

I think others have explained quite well why it still has UIQ3.0 plus after all it is still using the same base code as the P990 so is not really an evolution of the OS yet. Also the N95 has always been a Symbian 9.2 device and upgrading the firmware does not give it Symbian 9.3 there are currently no Symbian 9.3 devices available so i dont know where you got that information from but it is incorrect.

@jcwhite_uk

I don't know why you say that about Vista i have been using it on my new Laptop for a good couple of months now and besides using a lot of Ram it has been rock solid no problems what so ever. But then now i only actually install the things i need and am going to use and definitely avoid any Beta software. Now that i added extra Ram via a USB Memory stick and power boost it even runs much faster. I am more than happy with Vista and it stability and features. I would actually go as far as to say it is the most stable of newly launched Os's from Microsoft i have ever used.
