> k800i Media Player Problem
Bookmark topic
Hey all
I got a k800i a while back and the media player has been really annoying me. It won't sort my tracks properly - they seem to be listed in a completely random order. I used Sony Disc2Phone to transfer them from my iTunes library and they have a nice artist and album structure, but within the album list they aren't sorted by track number.
I'm guessing the problem is with the phone not being able to read m4a tags properly. Most songs are m4a but I have some mp3s with ID3 tags, and these are sorted by track number. Is there any way I can get the phone to read the mp4 tags, or does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks

When I transferred tracks onto my P9 there was a 'smart' sort option which put them in the right order. Don't know if your phone has this option though.

Thanks for the replies. I don't have any option for sorting the tracks on the phone. I'd rather not convert everything to MP3 since I'd lose a lot of quality converting from one lossy format to another. Looks like I'm stuck then unless anyone else can think of anything.

The K800 does read ID3 tags in MP3 files, but it ignores the track number, it's only the artist and title it reads, I think, and the title is used for sorting. What one can do is to add the track number in front of the title using an apropriate ID3 tag editor on the pc. One such "editor" for mp3 files is the properties dialog in the file explorer in windows. It's possible that there exists one such editor for m4a format as well, or maybe iTunes has it, I don't know.
