Hiya all,
You may have seen the other post on this combination, but with some help I have got most of the way there !
However, I now have an interesting problem. I am trying to install ppmmc.zip, which contains the parallel port multimedia card driver for win2000. However, having done this and a reboot ( as requested ), I keep getting win2000 saying that it has found new hardware ( SHUTTLE ETAPI REV# 00 ) and that it needs a driver - clearly, something is going pear-shaped in the installation of the driver.
I got to a stage where I booted win2000, uninstalled the hardware, and then ran the driver installation s/w - this went fine, and even prompted the new hardware wizard - great I thought, its going to install the driver automatically - BUT IT DIDNT ! So, I thought okay, I know where the software is, I'll point it at the right driver !
For reference, driver s/w located at :
c:\Program Files\PP_MMC\EPMMC2K.INF
However, it refused to recognise it as a driver !!!
Does anyone know what is going on here
I am presently downloading the zip file from the Ericsson site hoping that there might be something slightly different in it
help !

1) download MultiMediaCard reader PnP String eraser for Windows 2000. Unzip it. Run "2000Parallel.exe" and follow the on screen instructions.
Download pnperase.zip Here
2) Install the Driver (version 3.0) again

One solution is to simply throw the parallell writer away.. because it is simply very very slow.
And by a Sandisk USB writer instead.
It costed me 350 Swedish kronor.
roughly 40 EUR.

I spent days on this previously, and the only XP solution is to buy a USB MMC reader/writer from your local computer shop.
None of the parallel drivers work in XP and even when forced by hacking the INF Windows XP bluescreens.

I just got an hpm-10 today and have it working in xp pro in less than 10 minutes using the supplied parralell port reader/writer and downloading the newest version of the driver from sony ericsson.
besides the god awful slow pport it works fine after a couple of reboots. you know reboot windows enough and anythig will start working

Go to
ftp://ftp.scmmicro.com/dm/drivers/PPMMC%20WinXP%20BETA%20driver.zip
This is the beta drivers but it works perfectly for me under windows XP.

For the computer illeterate that found this forum on Google: I downloaded the driver, there's an INF and a SYS file in there, what do I do with it (where do I put it)?
Do I then need to do something else? Please give me an idiot-proof solution, I really need it.
Thx
Erik
