What is happening with the P1i & Orange in the UK?
Customer services told me today it is not in review and nothing planned - anyone know different?

Retentions told me they've dumped the P-series completely. Not sure if that's true or not.

Apparantly there is a very high liklyhood that Orange, for whatever reason, will not be supportng the P1.

However, if you look at the SE site, the P1 has Orange MMS and GPRS settings which would suggest that it should be supported, however we shall see.

I popped in and spoke to the guys in orange t'other day and they informed me that whilst testing it for network compliance, they've found some problems and that it may never feature on the orange network

knowing Orange too well...could the "compatibility problem" their testing team is experiencing is the fact that they can't disable VOIP as they did with the N95 when they released the device on their network?

Orange is notorious for disabling services on their mobiles because they think it would reduce their average revenue per user. Who knows why they removed the RSS Reader from their P990i.

I spoke to an orange customer service person last week about an upgrade. Told him i wanted to wait for either the w960 or the p1. He recommended the w960 but didn't mention that they wouldn't be getting the p1?

O2 P1i's aren't locked, at least mine isn't. They do very little customisation on the device as well.

You should be aiming to get the phone for free then.

I'm on the £35/month Tariff and I'm a fair user. Tend to go for minutes over texts because I just don't text. They also have unlimited weekend landline calls, which aren't unlimited if you read the small print. I think it's a 2000 minute allowance before they start asking questions.
