over here (usa) our cash registers have 5 spots... 5 for bills, and 5 for coins i mean. we put 1s, 5s, 10s, and 20s in the bills, and pennys, nickels, dimes, and quarters in the coin spots... that leaves one for bills and one for coins. 100s and 50s, everyone always "drops" for safety. so what are these extra spots for? do people in other countries use them?
i actually looked in google and didnt find anything, but most of you are better googlers then me.

If I understood your question right, the extra is normally for cheques and some use it to store the duplicate credit card slip.

@ecs - At my end BIGGER bills (Php 500 and 1K) usually are placed UNDER the TOP container . . . maybe those extra spots are for: gift coupons/certificates/discounts/vouchers etc.

thats true, i never thought about that. we put our checks with the bigger bills i the safe like i said below. in my store, we actually use it for spare rolled coins, but wasnt sure if thats what i was really for.
@jojo, we "drop" our bigger bills too. which is putting it uder the tray, or in a little safe with a hole in the top uder the registers. we have so many coupons/vouchers we just put them in a drawer under the registers lol (if we ring up 250 people, atleast 225 probobly have them)
@$herry hahaha
