I just tried google maps on my p1i, it works pretty well, except the touchscreen couldnt be used to navigate around the map. I had to use numeric keypad to move up-down and left right. I used wifi and it loads up quite smoothly.

Anyone ever tried this or even mapquest mobile?

Working fine on my P990 with the touch screen to drag around.
However I prefer MGMaps, which offers different maps tiles and even allow you to have custom maps

I can't seem to drag the map around on my P990i. Every time I touch the screen the map zooms out. Where did you download your version of Google Maps? Perhaps I will try that other program you mentioned. Can you use the stylus to drag around in that?

I just looked at MGMaps, it's interesting how you can store some maps, so you can access them without internet, just wonder how much storage will a map of Ontario take,

MGMaps have been ordered by Google to remove support for Google Maps. Rubbish!

I need a map of Ontario too! I tried downloading the Yahoo maps zoom-level 15 of most of the GTA's east-end today, and it was around 13MB. I really need all of the GTA, though... I just wonder if it's possible to not download the maps in a single square, because, if I want all of the GTA enclosed in a single square, Lake Ontario will take up a good portion, which is a waste of space! I most certainly never have to drive out there...

Despite the lack of Google Maps, MGMaps looks pretty good! I really like being able to pan around using the touch screen. Also, once I sort out how to use cached maps, instead of always using a GPRS connection, it will be quite handy on the go!

Can J2MEMap work off-line using pre-cached maps? I'm still trying to get this working on my P990i with MGMaps.
