> SMS slow when selecting contact
Bookmark topic
Hello guys, whenever I compose an SMS and selects the contact from my phonebook there is always about 2 secs or 1 sec before the whole contact list display. Is this normal? It's kinda slow for me, I'm already typing the name it still doesnt show up that quick. Am I making any sense? LOL

Hi, I do find the Messaging app on UIQ 3 is a tad slow

Perhaps you should try out 3rd party software that has contacts management, like AquaCalendar or DreamConnect to see if these helps?
I for one loved AquaCalendar's contact management, on top of its excellent PIM functionality. It comes with full fields search using the QWERTY keypad, doesn't matter if I only remember 1st name, last name, etc, it will find the contact. It also makes full use of the jog dial for scrolling to the contact, press jog dial inward, and a list of options will be presented for me to choose, like Contact the (selected) person, Create New--> SMS, MMS, Email, Appointment, Reminder, Tasks, to the selected person, etc.
DreamConnect is also an excellent Contact Management software, that does about most of the things that AquaCalendar does on the Contacts side of things. However, it lacks PIM functionality that AC truly aces, but it does allows group SMS, which AC lacks.
Hope this helps.
Edit: Oh, AC is a powerful PIM software, and hence, it can be a little 'complex' at first glance. Try go to 'Settings-->Contacts' to fine tune the settings for Contacts portion of this powerful software to suit your needs.

I find messaging very fast for a Symbian phone! I select create SMS as a shortcut, click that icon and I am straight into the SMS screen. Then a quick press of 'to' brings up your last 4 text contacts to make creation even quicker.

I do the same thing, I make contact shortcuts for SMS, I also really appreciate the recent contact list that drops down in the SMS menu. The contacts list coming up is too slow though, it really lags a little too long. I hope they can fix it as it would just make the messaging function really good overall.
