Hi there...

after 4 months of pleasing usage, yesterday my ds970 started to annoy me...

the problem was that none of the buttons on the device worked,i mean they didn't perform the action, including the power button...although music was streamed to the device with no problem.

today the battery discharged and i recharged it,now it wont turn on again since the buttons don't work...the screen is OK though, coz it turns on when the charger is plugged in.

i'm so much worried coz not only there are no official SE service centers here, but stores and repair mans aren't worth trusting,if there would be anyone who could fix it...........

so,it would be so nice of you to help me buddies, thanks in advance...

first thanks for your post...

well,i've already thought about the device being fake, since there are no official SE distributers here, there are fakes all around...this issue, always made me to search and learn about the device i am going to purchase...

i remember a thread here in esato about comparing a fake Hong-Kong ds970 and a geniun one, mine is tottaly as same as the good one.......on the other side the device really doesn't look fake,it worked perfect for almost 5 months, and now it looks brand new....moreover,the dealer was trusted...

could this problem probably be because of using another SE charger????personally don't think so coz i've charged it with my k800's charger sometimes.
but two days before yesterday,i asked my cousine to charge the device with his w810 charger....the problem occured after then....although the battery seems to be ok.....

anyone experienced this before????

hmm it may be to do with the charger...i would check to see if they are the same voltage although i dont see how this could really be it as i used to use the same charger with all of my SE phones :S

if you email sony ericsson they will be able to help you find a way to post it in to an overseas service centre i think

the charger issue is suspicious...

i emailed them already and they replied : the unit must be checked by an authorized SE service center, since there aren't any in Iran, you may go to one in UAE......

impossible at the moment....

BTW,i don't know what happened today but it was fixed by itself,i pressed the power button and it turned on,so happy paired the device with my phone and went out driving...
when i came back home i put my phone on my desk and went away(therefore the bluetooth connection was lost)...after then i noticed that the problem is back, this time the device won't turn off, since none of buttons work(the main problem which is inputting still remains)

this time,i'm not also able to get the device to work at all,it is just switched on but does nothing......

i'm confused and nervous

could this be Wetness issue???????

because on the day which this problem occured i had been north for 2 days,in a city by the sea and in this time of summer humidity percentage is so high there, the device was with me all the time, holding it inside of my shirt and i sweated a lot...

so i reckon the device has been wet...
i tried to disassemble the unit just my curiosity ,when i pulled off the front cover(which is held with so much glue) i noticed that the unit is screwed and pressed tight,so there is no way for humidity to come out...

could this be the problem??????

To be honest,i dont dare to disassembel the unit by myself, and without tools...

I think doing so may allow the wetness inside to come out...although im afraid to do that as long as the device is switched on...

I have to wait till the battery is discharged, but it take so long since i cant get the music into the davice in order to consume the power...

How much is standby time of DS970 then?:-S

is there such a switch to lock all the keys on your DS970?! coz what i have in mine is a different brand itech™ BlueBand R which has this hold feature to lock all the keys.. maybe if you have this mechanism on your device then its prolly malfunctioning.. or the switch is loosen...

hence... dont mind my post

those who own a DS970, how much did you pay for?
Take a picture at the back of teh unit which contain all the information.
If they are the same among those who owns them, they are fake.

and if it can be used for 5 mths, its not the charger.
