guyz i wanna buy a laptop...but i dunno which one should i get...is a macbook better then a windows powered one..cuz i have never in my life used a mac(except a few times bak 4-5 in skool)
so wat do u recommend...if their are good laptops around plz give me some links
my range is max 1200 american dollars
thnx for any help in advance

Any of those 3 would do very nicely indeed, very slightly over budget i know.
IMO the only reason to go with the Apple is because of the unique OS and software environment, Apple hardware is nothing special for the money.
The Acer is a bang up to date, great all rounder, a little bulky and grey however.
The Dell is powerfull, stylish, with to die for build quality too.
The Macbook has plenty of style, and those who use the OS swear by it, Lack of santa rosa CPU and paucity of inputs weigh against it IMO.

thnx guyz...i really like that xps m1330 and i was already thinking of that one..but dell doesnt offer amd processors...and i woulda liked those ones better but o well...i styll might end up wid da above mentioned one

Try the Dell XPS mentioned aboive...its great...will cost a hundred grand though..but heck, its a power house!
Alternately, try HP pavilions if ur short on money....around 75 grand and PRETTY powerful....
U can also try low end Dells or Compaqs if ur requirements are basic...

Oh and on a side note, you put the OS as a bad thing? OSX is a good operating system. (I'm a windows user myself). But the point is you can use WINDOWS on a MAC.
Some of your other points only apply to people who need it as well too.
My TX doesn't have a pc card slot.
Not all pc's have graphics cards.
The Macbook pro has it's own graphics card.
My Compaq has three usb ports, my macbook has two usb and 1 firewire.
Processor is slow...? I'm sorry but how is a 2.2Ghz Core2Duo slow?
That's the SAME processor they put on PCs!
You said there is no modem? Do you mean 56k modem? It has built in Wifi, Bluetooth (for networking) and an Ethernet modem.
I don't know if you just 'heard' those specs or are just a Mac hater.
and before I'm accused of being a fanboy.
I'm using a custom built pc right now.

HeHe Amnesia, NOT everyone who criticises Macs is a "mac hater", nor is everyone who sticks up for the Mac strictly a "Mac fanboy" But there IMO better units for the money.
Are you on commission for every time you mention the student discount thing BTW
