like i said, how much more does a CCD sensor cost in a cell phone. (is it a much higher cost ? )
is it difficult to create a cell phone with CCD ?
is CCD "eating" much more battery ?

do you guys think we gonna see a Cybershoot (soon) with CCD sensor ?
(i realy hope so. if its possible of course)

edit. bulky ? (i think that can build in that bulk pretty good. if the pics about "k950" is true, it is no bulk)

I'm not sure the S700i's bulk was due to the CCD sensor, as much as the swivel design. Another example of CCD-based camera phone: i-mobile 902 which has the same dimensions as the K850i: 102x48x17.5 mm vs 102x48x17 mm, that's a half millimeter thicker - not what I would call "bulk".

The G800 has a CCD sensor?

There's already a Samsung model that uses a CCD sensor: the KG920. It was introduced last year. Mobile-review.com called it an "amazingly expensive handset" in their review

Regarding cost: yes, CCD costs more. This is the main reason for manufacturers to choose CMOS. But you would need to know the price of specific CCD sensor modules to know how much it would increase the price.

Another reason is power consumption. I think this could be the cause of the bulk: larger batteries.

But with all these drawbacks you can't escape the fact that, with the small sensor sizes used in camera phones and point-and-shoot cameras, CCD is the best when picture quality is important. This is with today's technology. I have no doubt that CMOS sensors will equal and even surpass CCD in the near future.

Oops! That's true. LG KG920 is a 5MP CCD camera phone.

Samsung has also one from last year, but 3MP: SGH-Z710.

The Z710 is supposed to be the GSM-version of the CDMA-model SCH-A990 and I have seen comments about the A990 being an excellent camera. Here's one gallery. Oddly enough mobile-review's review of the Z710 shows average photos so it seems that Samsung used slightly different camera modules in these two phones.

Sony Ericsson has not produced any CCD models since S700/S710, afaik.
