Now how do SE plan to achieve that status with the P1, with nokia having the N95 and E90? Wishful thinking there...

Htc and nokia are now the pioneers of smartphones. Lets be honest... The time of P800,P900 and P910 is over (When SE was trully the pioneer). Now what SE has to offer that the other brands dont have better? Ok P1i is a nice phone but.... it came too late!! Better Wake Up SE!!

look:

and:

Is P1i good enough to compete with TyTn2 and N95 8Gb?? ... The good thing is the price... its about 200-300eur more cheaper than the others...but in terms of specs is far behind
I will be glad if SE got something better to announce in these days but i doubt it

is making phones that they themselves like and not what the loyal costumers want. How on earth did they think that what they have come out with so far is anyway near what is desired ?
Thier phones are now only up to scratch for the first one or so after release.

The best selling point for P1 was it's touchscreen capability and highly compact design while packing up every possible features(except the GPS module). HTC and Nokia smartphones are quite overgrown.
HTC Tytn2: bulky design, i guess professionals also prefer slim phones
Nokia N95: No TS, no need to elaborate that long ago issue
Nokia E90: Both Tytn2 and N95's weak point

I wonder if the P990's name will be on their list
Maybe they could write under it: "An Excellent Concept with a most Incompetent Implementation"
The same goes for the P1...

I have to disagree on this one. If you think that Tytn2 is bulky then what is p990? Its about the same size.
I dont think anybody can top HTC at the moment. They are producing pocket size computers, which you cant call phones anymore IMO.
I think SE messed up their smartphone line up plus UIQ is a dead end OS. No developer wants to develop for uiq, which I dont blame them with that cocky and stupid attitude on SEs side. I lost all the respect and love I've ever had for SE. I moved on and wasnt disappointed at all (HTC Touch). Cant imagine to go back and cant imagine either for SE to come up with something really good....

TyTN II is slimmed down to 19mm thick which compares to 21mm on N95 and 20mm on E90
