I recently purchased a W580i, and a 2Gb SanDisk M2 memory card to go with it, however, when I inserted the card and turned the phone on again, I got a message asking if I wanted to format the memory stick, so I said yes, and a few seconds later got a message saying it had been successful, but when I came to take a photo, was told that the memory stick was unnavailable, and the same thing happened when I went to browse the folders on it via the phone
Is this a problem that I can solve? Or is it because the memory stick is too large, and the phone can only accept up to 1Gb?

2GB should be ok it that phone. Do you have a memory card reader for your computer? If you do then format the card on the computer and then try again.

Unfortunately I don't
I'm about to try connecting the phone to my computer with the stick in it
It came with an adapter, however, to turn it into a Memory Stick Pro Duo, so I tried it in my W800i, and the same thing happened, when I went to format it via 'File>Format Memory Stick' it was as if the stick wasn't inserted at all

Unfortunately, it didn't work that way either, I was told that there was no memory stick inserted
The weird thing is that when I connected my W800i to the PC, and double clicked on the 'Removable Drive E:', I was told that it would need to be formatted, so I clicked ok to do so, then was told to insert a removable drive, and that it could not be formatted
Can anyone please shed some light on this problem?
Thanks

Faulty M2, perhaps? You need to swap it with the working one.

Oh!I have a W800i too!LOL!iLOVE IT VERY MUCH!
Considering of the phenomenon you've said,I've summarized to the same judgment as uptairs.
So,just return to the shop to ask for a normal M2.
And do not forget to take your phone together with it.

It was bought via the internet, so unfortunately, I can't test another before I take it home, so to speak, however I contacted the company, and they've told me to return it to them, and they'll test it and supply me with a new one if found faulty, if not, I'll simply ask for a 1Gb M2

I just got my new 2gb m2 in the post today for my k810i. Put the card in and navigated via file manager, and it said "memory stick not inserted". Although after turning the phone off and then back on again it was fine.

Incidentally diddly_death, where in Birmingham you from? I'm from Great Barr.

Well, depending how well you know and trust this company, sounds like either a fake memory stick and/or the phone malfunctioning. Try a stick from a friend or at a store and see if that one works.
