I've been reading to many speculations in this forum about the possible release date of the P800. As a journalist, writing a Christmas shopping special for a magazine, I thought 'let's check the facts'. I called Peter Bodor, press spokesman for Sony Ericsson in Stockholm today. I'll share his statement with you:

"The P800 will be out before Christmas in the following markets: Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Italy and Hongkong. All the other markets will start receiving it January/February 2003. The phone will be distributed throught the network operators. It's up to the operators to define the pricing for the P800, depending on contracts that come with the phone. Without a contract the phone should be priced around 600 Euros."

Brimme.. yep but its problem...
For example TIM in Itali is just testing their firmware (probably locked to their sim) and if it will be ok tomorrow they will say yes to start of distribution which means next friday it might be in the shops.. but probably sim locked.
Then if you consider time delivery fron online shops we will not get it before XMAS . Another thing is that they are backordered in 1000pcs!.

I can assure all of you that Italy is totally clean about sim-locked phones. It is a non-existent market here.

Hopeless Great News!
Do you know BTW any shop in Italy where they will have it for sure after 20.dec?

I wonder what they will branding... as they needed to change firmware in order to do so. Just logos?

600 euros without a contract! Thatīs alot cheaper then I had expected it to be. According to different retailers and people here on esato the price would be around 900 euros. But, as with everything else that has to do with SE wīll just have to wait and see.

Obviously not *just* logo. Seems like it will be a light customization (wap/mms preinstalled profiles only). This because they were flamed & blamed *a lot* with last (somewhat heavy) customization of firmware on T68i. They are not going to loose their face again

Quote:600 euros without a contract
rob:the official price in TIM's pricelist will be 799 EUR. The package includes a SIM (with 20 or 40 EUR of traffic. This is the unique unknown part of the offer).
