1)i have properly set up my gmail account (Thanks mausser) and have set up the scheduled download from 7am to 12am every 40 min, but it does not send my emails to the phone. ive played around with it for the last 2 weeks to see if i could figure out why and nothing. On my k790a it sent emails every 30 min no problem i really need this feature to work. anyone have any thoughts?
2) how exactly does the bb push feature work on the p1i. i had a bb pearl and liked the instant delivery so if i could get this setup then i dont need to worry about the above. What are the requirements to set up bb push feature?
3) does any one know the settings for hotmail?
Thanks in advance for any help

Is it the same gmail account as on your k790 ?
If not, have you enabled pop3 access in your preferences on the gmail website ?

No idea why the P1 isn't receiving the emails. However the BB service feels and is set up the same as a normall Blackberry.
If it's not pre-installed, download the SIS file from the SE website.
Make sure that your Service Provider has enabled Blackberry against your Mobile Number.
Run the software on your phone and visit the Blackberry Internet site (BIS) that your Service Provider uses.
Follow the on screen prompts.
I've had Blackberry running on my P910 and P990 and love it.

Does it work if you send & receive emails manually? If not, what happens?

That's strange... Do you have to select an internet connection when you send & receive emails manually - or does it just connect & disconnect automatically?
I guess you don't have a permanent internet connection - so there is no earth symbol visible all the time? If I am right and you set the polling interval from 40 minutes down to 3 minutes - just for testing purpose - does the earth symbol appear and disappear every 3 minutes?
Regarding the other questions: there is no way to get hotmail emails from free hotmail accounts into the built in email application - as hotmail does not support pop3 or imap.
And Blackberry works very simple. You just install the (free) client and register it with the Blackberry service like a blackberry pearl. Then emails get pushed into the P1.

I've tried it with my own gmail acc. yesterday and set it to 9 a.m. - 11 p.m. with 1 min. intervals.
It has only connected once and afterwards nothing happened.
This morning at 9 it suddenly connected and then repeated it every min., just as it was set.
Seems to need a rest after setup

My P990i does just the same but I gave up and update it manually. Works just from time to time...
It's true, it updates fine the first time even if it's at every 3 minutes and then nothing.I am sure a restart would fix it but who needs that crap, anyway?!
