Sounds to me like a Fake memory stick! They give this error many times! If so, there is nothing that can be done! Except getting a real one

have you tried a card reader to access the memstick? if it shows the same error, you have a corrupted memstick. the only solution is to change your memstick with a new one (generic/fake or branded, it's up to you.)

...or to put it simply, you need another memory stick. Thing tend to break-up at some point, you know...
You you have warranty, use it.

Or the ms is still intact, as he gets this error only on his mobile, while his pc still allows him to put data on it.

@feelthesting

Format your mem stick on your pc, then put it in your mobile, reformat it, put it back on your pc, transfer some stuff and check if it works.

And never take out the mem stick while data transfer is in progress.
This may cause file corruption, damage the FAT or even your mem stick.
Use the 'Safely remove hardware' option..

I have never experienced or heard that a brand name memory stick just dies...

I use only the Original Sony Memory Sticks and no matter what i do they work perfectly!

However, twice I felt over the years being sold fake sticks! I recognized that because they gave me Read/Write and Corrupt Data Errors. In addition to that one 2GB stick caused my battery to drain very heavily on my SE Z800 phone.

So again, unless one knows 100% that the stick is Original and Brand Name, the chances being fake and therefore producing these errors and faults are in my opinion very high.

Firstly, Sony and Sandisk memory sticks are made in the same factory - they're just branded differently. This is true of many different brands of memory card - they're the same hardware, regardless of brand. So buying Sony does not necessarily give you any advantage over another brand.

Formatting the memory stick will usually fix this kind of error, especially if you've not formatted it in a while. If it's still playing up, it may well be faulty.

How do you know? Ever been in the factory? Are you using FAKE or REAL sticks, anyway?

And so you know, many products made in China i.e. are going even over the same line BUT 1 line is real, 1 is fake. That's the way. I prefer the Sony Line and like I said, I have never ever had any problems as long as its a REAL one.

YOU ARE SIMPLY WRONG.

Memory Sticks - Duo and M2 - are made individually by SanDisk and Sony - in different factories, with different controllers, different memory, different packaging etc. The only thing that is common is the Memory Stick specification, which both companies abide by.
