> SOS, my beloved w850 has turned mad!
Bookmark topic
It has all of a sudden started taking pictures and recording videos on its own will. I never dropped it or did get wet that I can recall, ever! It has been like this for the last 5 days and I am most fustrated as technical service in Spain (I am Spŕnish) is terrible and expensive.
What can it be?
It gets stuck in that and sometimes I can get it back to the general menu, but most of the times I cannot.
Does it sound like sthg, you have seen before?
No guarantee although is only months old, I bought it online from Germany as Spain had sold out this model .I love the mobile and the rest works fine.Could I block the camera usage or do something to use it ?Thanks
A reflash with wotan would change anything right?

What do you mean by 'taking pictures and video by itself?' can't you stop it? Anytime you turn it on it always takes pics and videos?

well, when I unblock it and use the slider or when I touch it it starts taking pictures!!
And even just holding it it
I presss the back button to leave the camera mode and it does not work
I have to insist sliding down in order to leave camera and "turn off" the insane pictures taking.
I don't understand.
I have barely used the camera wiht the phone.
Maybe it got humid from the environment? It has never happened to me with any phones.
If I want to use it, I can be lucky to use menu or it starts again

It sounds like a hardware problem. Have you tried removing the battery for a while?

Thanks for the ideas

Are you sure it is not a hardware faulty, like a problem with the camera button. Does that feel normal when pressed?

I am siure it is hardware but I do not know how to fix it.
It feels normal, though,
can't opent it up without special tools.I just scratched the camera button trying to "unblock" it.I think the mobile is going to die. I will not pay a lot for a typically late--more than 1 month--not guaranteed reparation.SE Spain will not cover it and I am soooooooooo upset.

May be the camera button keeps always pressed. Have you tried to open the service menu? There you can do a keyboard test.
Anyway, if you bought your phone from Germany I think that

warranty should cover it, as both Spain and Germany belong to the European Union... unless you have altered the firmware.
I bought a Dutch K750i two years ago, and within the first months of use, the camera cover started to work erratically. I just reuploaded the original (Dutch) firmware, took the invoice as a proof-of-purchase and headed to a

Service Point. They fixed my hardware problem for free. The Service Point was located in Málaga (I'm also from Spain).
The Service Center name was Tecnitel, or something simillar. It's a pity that I can't recall the name of guy who was working at the Service Center... he was a really polite and efficient man.
You can try calling them.
Best regards!
