Is it just me or are all SE phones' speaker volume level sub-standard as compared to other manufacturers (ie, Nokia). I've been using Ericsson and Sony Ericsson since forever and I've always envied how loud Nokia speakers are without even tweaking the equalizer settings whereas on the other hand, you'd have to manually set all the settings on the equalizer to the max to get an acceptable level of loudness on SE phones. Is there a reason to this, because I've always thought that the link with Sony should give SE an advantage in this department, but apparently I remain baffled.

I also agree that they volumes are low, however, I disagree with you QVGA when you say it is getting worse. I still have the k700i and have heard the k800 it sounds louder than my k700i. As a matter of fact the k750i is way louder than my k700i.

And as audio devices, you'd think the Walkman phone speakers would have an edge over others. Such assumption would also lead to disappointment. I just don't get why they are reluctant to throw in a couple more dB's in their devices when it can only serve their users better. Like when you're on speaker in the car while the sidescreen's down, or when you forgot your earphones but want to share a favourite song with a friend or perform a videocall at a busy cafe. No SE speaker would work in such situations. SOME are below par even when you are on earphones where the volume would have to compete with the ambient sound. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm speaking for everyone right?

i use the speaker on his walkman when the whole building get's too noisy that even earphones are unable to block the noise very well. and the people there wondered where that extremely loud sound came from

Well if this is the case, why some select models or even worse, why only certain units have this advantage (inconsistent quality control?). I've heard the W900 having good speaker volume but never had the liberty to try it out myself. I think it wouldn't be out of line if I said that the volume is a well-known yet not widely acknowledged issue among SE users therefore, it's only natural that we adress it

By the way, W550 and W610 are one of the loudest phones I have ever heard... Nokia can't beat them...
And I have a trick that I use with W800 (at ringtone), after which there is not even a single phone that can outperform it in loudness... U just need to keep ur hand at the back of the phone with some space for the speaker...

Try using the N95 and N73 and see how they annihilate the so called "loud" speaker of W550. And the only reason why W550 is the loudest of all SE phones is because it has 2 speakers, an idea which SE totally ditched after words for some totally unknown reason. And whats the BS about separating W phones? Next thing you know W phones dont have a keypad because its a W phone and emphasis is on music, not calling. Eh?
And you're telling me i'm going to have to keep my fingers in some specific position to enjoy the sound? Gimme a break!
I heard W910 has a really good loud speaker and i hope its true because it might be one of my next phones, or N81 maybe.
