I wonder why SE have broken away from the K800/K810i design and not put a lens cover on the phone?

OK, it does have an internal cover, BUT the glass/plastic (which is it?) clear covering of the case will get scratched and ruin the benefits of having a 5Mpix camera?

PS: Anyone know the UK release date for the K850i?

Isn't the lens cover is scratch resistant?

I don't think it is made of plastic. Fo a camera lens to made of plastic it culd take bad picures, which is not SE's intention.

The reason the K850 doesnt have a lens cover like K800/810 is that the phone can be slimmer (17mm). A lens cover adds abit of thickness, and without it, they have more space to pack everything in, but keep a slimmer size.

I dont think it is slimmer than the K810i which is also 17mm, and thats the widest part accross the lens area including the cover.

The K850i is 17mm thick accross its whole length - a bulkier phone than the K810i.

yes exactly - the K850 would be around 20 mm thick if it had a lens cover. Without it, it keeps to 17mm. The whole idea is to give the intention that the K850 is as slim as the K810 even though it has a bigger camera.

I cant decied wether to buy the K810i now or wait for the K850i (I dont have a camera phone now).

I prefer slimmer phones and think the lack of lens cover will also be an issue on the K850i. I like feel of the K810i ......

The Nokia N82 looks like it could be a serious challenge to the K850i also.

Too many decisions!
