Just received a headset I bought off ebay, an HBH-IV835 had a buy now of £4.99 with £9.99 postage, so for the price thought it was worth the risk, and to me this headset looks fake. The charger looks fake, there is an earloop included which has BLUETOOTH on it instead of what I would have thought would be sonyericsson. The build of the headset does not look up to other headsets I have which are genuine SE ones, the packaging is hard to tell looking at other boxes I have, it does not look as if it is fake, but we all know how good they are these days. Now if anyone has a genuine one of these I may well have a few checks for you to do, to try and confirm whether this is genuine or not. If it is , then it is very good value, but if not, do I use it or not, will it be safe to use, being in your ear. So if anyone has a genuine one of these please contact me so I can check a few things, I will post some pictures up later, of things like the charger, and the areas I think could make this a fake, If it turns out to be genuine, then I am glad I have only paid this for it, as it is not as good a quality as many other headsets they produce for far cheaper prices.

Reality Check: Of course its likely to be FAKE!

This price is less then a real one costs USED!

Depending on your phone (I have tested with P990) after you have bonded, look at Accessories... if its listed and can be selected then the first test is successfull.

I have once a different HBH bluetooth and found that one did NOT show up under Accessories even when bonded and connected.

On the other hand, after you post a pic, I have the real one and can tell you if its fake from that.

Regards

When connected it shows HBH-IV835 it's going back anyway, call quality is terrible, and there are a couple of issues with the bluetooth side, which none of the other headsets have at all. Yes if you read the post, I state it was maybe a fake, and I was prepared to take the risk, as it may have been genuine.

Like I said before, once I got scr8wed and got a fake bluetooth. The quality is NEVER like the original. Hence fake! Why would anybody want a fake electronic device?

Its not like its the SAME just the name is scratched off. It is inside and outside inferior. I would never want a fake anything not even as a gift.

By the way, I have gone back to the hbh-610a which has in my opinion the only real noise reduction and clarity SE advertises. The only drawback is that if both parties have that headset, the voices get as if the mouthpiece would be covered. But normally you don't call someone that still has a hbh610a

I will try in the future the stereo from Jabra BT 8010. It has very impressive features

Personaly I think the HBH-300 takes allot of beating. The sound quality on that headset is second to none. Yes it is bigger than most, but rather that than not be able to be heard, the amount of times people have never belived me when I have said where I am while using that headset.

May be this is what you've been sold!
