> W960 or Nokia N81, Which should I get?
Bookmark topic
Let me know you wise opinions.
I'm using a Nokia N73 ME and I really like symbian.
I've had the P990, kinda like it but the many issues that had back in that time made me change my mind.
I've seen the W950 and I was amazed by this cellphone.
The menu was really cool. Downsides were the no-cam, no wifi.
But know that the amazing W960 is coming, which one should I get, the Nokia N81 8GB (a very good one) or the W960.
Thanks

W960. If you want S60, get the new N95 or N82.

N81, like QVGA said, and it probably has the OMAP2420 330MHZ chip or 369mhz which makes it faster, also must have a dedicated Sound chip, stereo speakers, just allround better MUSIC phone.

The n81 seems like a nice multimedia phone. Slider, a 3.5mm jack, flash lite, etc (media player is good). Looks classy.
But.. talk- time: up to 240 minutes on gsm? Weight: 140g? (Is it a mobile phone, or? - I mean, why not just buy a good mp3- player instead. And keep another, smaller and cheaper phone? ..er.. I guess I just don't see the point here..)

From what i remember the W900 was 148g and that was actualy not realy heavy,if that was heavy at all, this is 140g with 3G and EDGE, 8GB, a great CPU and so much more,i think its a great step up from the N91-8GB,dont realy trust all those talk time figures until i get the phone and see how long it lasts when i use it

The w910 says 86g (still with the 320x240 non touch- screen).. *shrug* that's at least closer to an mp3- player.. I see your point about the functions, though. Those on the top tier for mobiles, no doubt about that.
(..Still, it sort of doesn't seem all that useful to me. For instance, if I need to plug my phone into a power- outlet whenever I want to update my playlist.. while at work or at home - either because wifi drains my battery, or because the power is low... Then, you know, it's just a small computer with a tiny screen, limited functions and no keyboard..)

In general i think thats what smartphones are,the N81 has a 1050mah battery whereas the W960 is around 950mah battery so wouldnt the N81 have the better battery life?
Now W910 is a truly practical music phone for the person who doesnt need a phone with an OS ,Wifi and some of those other things but just a great music phone which is the rite size and got a great screen size for videos

Mm. So if you can't be mobile, then..
On the battery - not necessarily. On any other computer, you'd program an algorithm to have linear running time as much as possible, simply because computers are so fast any constant (100, a billion) operations will be done away with quickly. On mobile phones, you'd have to think about how often those constants would have to be run as well. So a predictable OS like on the jp- phones to SE, you could program the phones for a fixed set of drain on the battery (with variable on the sound quality and bitrate and so on). But when you have a symbian OS, it's a more flexible thing all of a sudden. I.e, it could be extremely difficult to have efficient context- switches between messenger- apps, phone tools and music playback. And the potential for experiencing serious drain on the battery for no obvious reason is there all of a sudden.
So not to plug a specific phone *cough* but if the w960 one day.. (you know, in about a year or so. Like with the k750, which was an excellent phone you'd never have any trouble with - if you bought it a year after the release) ..will be rid of the most annoying bugs, and are streamlined well enough, etc. - it will be a very good attempt, imo, at a mobile.. key word being mobile.. platform for several useful tasks.. (add a BT keyboard to it, for instance, and it's almost there. While we're waiting for dry- cells, I mean

)
