Hi all.
As we all know, in the news, we are bombarded with reports of killings and the missing Madeliene case. However, is it me, or is it only white children are getting all the attention?
The examples are endless. When ever there is a report of a black child being shot, it is breifly mentioned on the news. However, when a white boy (the poor Rhys Jones in this example) is cowardly gun down, it makes headline news, the funeral is on the news. Is it me or is it all the white kids get all the publicity in these cases. Come on now lets honestly face it, if Madeliene was actualy part of a normal working class Indian family, who have lived here all there life, went on holiday and the Indian girl went missing, I would bet money that the child would get half the publicity of Madeliene.
When you here about all the black people being knived and shot, there is never this much publicity.
Now then, before I get counter argument, please answer this before you even consider arguing against this point: "When has a black child who has been shot/knived ever gained as much publicity as Rhys Jones or other white kids?"
The answer is never.

Taylor did have quite a bit of coverage. But Jones is still in the beggining, the case is still wide open. No black kid in the UK got as much coverage as taylor. But look at the other cases. How big they have been with white children and how small with children from other backgrounds.

Steven Lawrence got huge press coverage, but if the scenario was the other way around, 4 black kids killed a white kid there’d be little to no press attention. So no I don’t think the press is racist (not in London anyways).
Thing is there are so many black on black murders happening of late its becoming the norm (unfortunately). So when a white kid is evolved it seems to be more unheralded.
Although i may be wrong.

Yes its Racist!
In 2006 i saw a survey about the most "popular" events that happened in 2005-06 and the London Bombings in July was in the top 5! The event was blown out of proportion! Media acted like something from outer space attacked England!
There was no mention of the Earthquake that hit Pakistan/India which was one of the biggest in decades and killed 1000's of people!
Media is biased and its BS. Period!

Well obviously he would have, because this is when people really started to think seriously about knife crime.

In the UK, people want to here local news, with a passing interest in news elsewhere in the world. It was not blown out of proportion, as this was an attack on the civil liberties of everyone involved. The earhquake, was tereible, and I feel for the people affected, and the events in London, bear no parallel as to the loss of life, but,we had the right to be inormed, and we were.
This is by no means the ideal place to live, but it is where I and 50 plus million others choose, and we want to know what is happening on our doorstep.
The press, or I should say certain elements of the press, can be biased, and may make race intolerant remarks. As I write, there is a report of a baby, of Asian descent, being totured and murdered. Plus here in the Midlands, we have a high proportion of residents whose roots are from beyond our shores, I feel the press are very good on letting people know what is happening, in every race, colour and creed. There will always bad apples, but people soon work out who they are, ignore their comments and in some cases, voxpop causes them to be sacked.
One of the most hih profile cases involved football pundit Rodney Marsh, and his comments about the Toon army. So bigots and the unimformed or ignorant, get their come-uppance.
