Hi all,
Just had a problem yesterday with my E61 trying to send a rouge SMS that after which i received a message from 34967 asking me to reply for free to get all the latest T-Mobile settings sent to my phone. Which i knew was false as firstly all SMS messages from T-Mobile come in with T-Mobile as the sender not a short code number.
As i already have all the correct settings and they are all working i called T-Mobile to check if it was from them which they confirmed it wasn't so it has been reported to T-Mobile who are investigating but be aware as i am pretty sure this is a scam of some description most probably to a premium SMS service that once you send a single message to could incur hefty charges so be careful if you get a bogus message offering to send you new settings as it may not be just T-Mobile customers they are targeting.

lol of course its from tmobile, if u send a bank txt to that number theyl send mms and gprs settings,

Well that's very interesting as both the customer service people i spoke to said no that is not an number associated it with them. As i said all my other SMS messages all come with T-Mobile as the sender and i it was not a new phone but one i have been using for months with all the correct settings already in there.
What makes you say they are the correct settings? and why would i suddenly receive a message to download them then ?

i read it somewhere mate i txd the number to get the settings sent, irritatingly tho every time i put my sim in again (i use another sim with the same fone) i get that txt again

Well the really strange thing is i decided to reformat my E61 and on reinstalling the memory card it showed two untrusted apps one of which was just as series of numbers and letters so reformatted the memory card also.
Since then i have reinstalled all my apps and no longer am getting this message and as all always all my settings automatically downloaded as usual. This is why i decided to warn others especially after my conversations with T-Mobile who said it had nothing to do with them. i will call again tomorrow and try find out more. But just in case i may be right i thought it was worth a caution warning. The other strange thing was this only started the other day, and yes i am cynical and cautious when it comes to anonymous messages arriving.

Well I'm going to err on the side of caution on this one and heed Marc's advice it is something to be weary of and being flippant may cost a lot of money!
