Hi all,

This is really weird, I had my phone repaired since it 'freezes' for no reason.

The service center people said they re-uploaded the software, and then the phone was ok ever since and stopped freezing.

But now, it doesn't connect to my bluetooth headset (if the headset was on my ear, I have to put the phone ON MY EAR to get it connected!), and after doing so, the headset disconnects the moment I hold my phone away from my ear with a very bad call quality then, disconnects.

Happened too with my HP laptop when I try to send anything to/from it from my P990, you have to put the phone on the keyboard to get it send anything, otherwise, it disconnects.

I thought it was the headset (HBH-GV435), but then again, the phone was the one which was acting weird with this bluetooth issue.

There are absolutely no installed programs on my phone, and I preformed a master reset/format internal disk command and performed the update again myself for 4 times, and nothing changed. Bluetooth is crippled.

Any idea whats going on?

As it sounds its the Hardware then! You can do one more thing before anything else, try reflashing...BUT before delete the 13xxxxx folder under SonyErisccon Updates.

That way you will receive a fresh set of firmware files for the flash. If you wouldn't do it like this, a reflash will only flash the same files over and over. And it could be possible that your flash files have the corruption of the bluetooth fw in it.

Hope that helps

You could also do a master reset first, before you flash and see if that cures the problem.

I guess this could be a bug in the software..this is the rason why the p990i was not so successful, it has a lot of bugs, try a master reset and if nothing improves send it to the service centre

I don't think its a bug, it was working flawlessly before.

maybe the service center uploaded an older version of the fw? try upgrading your phone via SEUS

The service center reuploaded the latest version, surprisingly the phone's former problem disappeared (the freezing thing).

Now we are faced with a new one ever since the phone is back from service center, which is the bluetooth, its more described as VERY WEAK bluetooth reception, since when I put my headset JUST BESIDE the phone, they pair correctly and work flawlessly.

The moment I pick the headset and put it around my ear, the connection is lost, and when I try to re-pair, I get nothing, its like the headset actually is 'out of the bluetooth coverage area', despite being only on my ear, and the phone in my hand.

It happens with other bluetooth enabled devices, I have to put the phone REALLY CLOSE to the other device for it to work!

I'm a p1 user but.. if this problem is happening with your p990 and other bluetooth devices and a master reset and / or reflash of firmware doesn't fix it perhaps something has gone wrong with with the bluetooth module in the phone? I'd say send it back for testing / repair

I had the same problem with my P990i after an update sometime ago. My headset didn't work with the phone anymore and I had to give it away and bought a new SE headset - the older was a Jabra. So, I think it's time for a new one, i found no way around it - coludn't pair ait and that was it. Too bad cuz it worked flawlessly b4.
