When you click on "To" on a text message, if helpfully shows you previous recipients.

But can you clear this history?

The list clears itself over time. Regular recipients tend to feature and one-off text destinations are soon wiped off the list.

The history does not clear itself.
It keeps a list of the last 10 numbers. So, even one-off numbers will remain there until you have sent sms to 10 different numbers.

Only 11+ numbers will replace the oldest number in your history.

Yes, so it does as I said! I have never texted 10 different numbers yet my list has settled at 4 main numbers - there were 7 last week.

i'm texting different people all the time and i get four at most never had any more which i find frustrating as my k800 used to keep many more in list. i've also found restarting clears the list. annoying again!

Restarting? Do you mean turning the phone on and off? I switch my phone off every single night at bedtime and the list is always there when I power it up in the morning.

sometimes my list has 3 or 4 in it....sometime more..... somtime there are duplicates of the same number (contact)

the reason i started this topic, was because there didnt see any logic in how it worked. (I am still none the wiser)

A restart does not wipe the list on my P990i, nor does the history shrink to 4 or 5 at any time.

Should be the same on P1i.

Yours may be suffering amnesia
