Is it me being sceptical, but recently there's an awful lot of lucky lightning shot here, What are the photo's of a HD screen like? Do you see the pixels the screen is made up from? I only ask because on some lightning photo's there appears to be a slightly darker line accross the photo, and one user has caught a few bolts. Please tell me I'm wrong!

Ps. I hope I'm wrong... What are your thoughts people?

You only get darker lines when taking a picture from a CRT tv.

Nothing like that from Plasma's and LCD's, just tried it.

@comfort_mdu

It's whether there's a CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) or not in the screen. CRT's are the screens with backs whereas LCD's and Plasma's are slim with no back.

Resolution is not an issue when it comes to lines being showed when taking pics of the TV. It all depends on the technology the screen is using to display that image (plasma, lcd etc.)

Is this an HD immage or non Hi def? My point with the photo's I picked out, photo 1 has a dark line through it with half a bolt of lightning. I know with my phone, I take a photo of a car at night and the headlamp appears to be taken in 4 positions. Is this the phone/camera software or just a regular digi happening?

no it's not HD... just a Sky Digital transmission...

the TV is LCD.

I can take a picture of a TV screen with my phone once, and there is black lines, the next time i try they won't be there. So i don't really know.

It's because of the way a crt screen is drawn. The screen only draws one dot, which scans very quickly across the screen to draw the whole picture. Lcd screens don't need to do this they just draw the picture whole.

The dark line is the previous picture fading just ahead of the now one being drawn. It happens far to fast to see it as more than a flicker, unless you capture it with an unsynced camera.

If you watch a crt screen in a film or on a tv drama it will draw correctly, because the scanning of camera is matched to the screen before they shoot. Watch the same thing in an interview and you will often see these lines moving up or down the screen.
