Hi,

SE has released newer versions of the BlackBerry Connect (BBC) client for the P1i. The versions are 4.33 and 4.57 depending on your P1 firmware version. For P990 the BBC client is still 3.55 .

The following discussion is for the BlackBerry Enterprise Service.

Has anyone managed to make them work on a P990 ? Are theseBBC clients anybetter than the P990 client ?

I managed to install BBC 4.33 for P1 on my P990 and even managed to get service books for the mail and address book service. I also noticed that there are two new services added which were previously available only on RIM BlackBerry hardware: these are BB Messaging and BB Browser. I managed to download service books for these also. However, I could not get the phone to connect to my BB Service.

BBC 4.57 would not install at all on the P990 saying that the certificate has expired.

Has anyone figured out a way to install the BBC 4.33 or 4.57 of the P1 on the P990 ? Is it worth it ?

I think it would be nice to have the BB Messaging and BB Internet Browser feature. There BBC 4.x also has more detailed options for configuring wireless synchronisation as well as the option to provision your BB account wirelessly using your mobile service provider so you don't need a USB PC connection to setup.

On the downside, the BBC 4.33 installation takes about 1500KB of space wherease BBC 3.55 takes 704KB.

I tried too with 4.33

I also got the services, the Email push working but no way to get the agenda to work as the contact list nor the browser.

It would be nice that SE makes BBC 4.0 available for p990i

Please father Xmas... BBC4 for p990 !
