> Driver issue with P1i

I’ve received the phone recently on upgrade and am experiencing problems in getting it to connect to my XP-SP2 laptop. Apologies in advance if the topic has been covered before, I did search…
While the USB connection seems to work fine, there appears to be a driver conflict of some description preventing the phone synching. ‘File Transfer’ connections present no issue, but attempting to connect in ‘Phone mode’ for synching purposes is just unsuccessful, even though the M-Router shows a successful USB connection. Sony Ericsson Smartphone Suite simply refuses to connect.
Have tried the usual uninstall, restarting drivers, upgrading the PC suite and so on. Have also tried using a Bluetooth connection with a Belkin dongle, where laptop and phone paired successfully, but the PC suite showed no connection. Have even called Sony Ericcson support who were pretty stumped. I was asked to go into Phone Monitor and enable port 9 and 10 which were disabled, but this didn’t effect things at all.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Perhaps best to ditch it and go back to a regular phone. The K800i was a gem.

I had the same thing, apparently because of some usb- driver for the k750 I had installed a while back. And for some reason it didn't work just to reinstall the smartphone- suite on top of it. Not entirely sure what fixed it, though. But it seemed to work to uninstall the smartphone suite, then reinstall the old software for the k750. Uninstall the old software again, and then reinstall the smartphone- suite. But I'm sure there's just some usb- inf that has to be replaced.. it's just not as easy as just deleting a "epiusb.inf", or something of that sort.. Probably some component has to be unregistered, or whatever they call it in microsoft.

Thanks I'll give that a shot as I had a K800i before. However I did remove its PC Suite prior to installing the Smartphone one.

I also had some silmilar problems, heres what seemed to fix it for me:
With the phone connected, uninstall everything in Device Manager with sonyericsson is its name. Reboot and try attaching the phone again in phone mode
Hopefully it will reinstall the necessary drivers automatically and youll be up and running, fingers crossed.
