Hi Guys

ive just converted from a pocket pc to the symbian setup

im having problems trying to sync my work imap email with T-mobile UK
I can recieve my emails. but i am having problems sending emails, i keep getting error sending.
i think it may have to do with the SSL or port settings, does T-mobile have dfferent port for outgoing emails?

any help appreciated

Could be. Some genius at my provider blocked any standard ports for mail for a while to "stop spam", for instance.

You need to use t-mobile's smtp gateway to send.

smtp.t-email.co.uk

no authentication required

Same problem here but on the receiving part. It's operator related. If I'd need a Push Mail I just use the POP3 one and set it to dwnl e-mail every 3 minutes. Works just the same.

Standard ports are as follows:

SMTP: 25
POP3: 110
IMAP: 143

As another poster pointed out you use SMTP to send mail regardless of what you use to pick it up (POP3/IMAP).

Some providers/ISPs often don't allow SMTP past their network so you often end up having to use their own sendmail service.

I don't think anyone bothers changing away from these standard ports, there isn't much point.

I would suggest using IMAP for mail processing as it allows you to have several 'clients' access the one mailbox, e.g. I have my P1i reading my home mail which I also check using webmail, a mail programs on home laptop and work laptop - I can see the same status and folders whichever I use.
