I've seen a few people mention WLAN problems but I thought I would try and pin down the specific 'local' issues.

I have a brand new (less that 24hrs old) P1i from O2 and it will reset itself all the time when trying to scan and/or connect using WLAN.

In fact this is the 2nd handset from O2 and both behaved in exactly the same way. Scan and it will think for a while (maybe 5seconds) and then reset. After the reset it seems to have found my wireless network so I click connect, again 5seconds or so and then bang, gone.

I have a DLink 2000+ AP which claims to be working in b & g mode so there should be no issues there.

O2 have just assured me that it's not a hardware fault and I'm inclined to agree, I suspect R6E30 firmware will fix this ... but I can't get it yet!

I've not seen and general feeling that the WLAN is badly broken so I wonder why O2 handsets - or the two I've had - are falling over.

Can anyone else with a similar P1i on O2 confirm whether they have similar problems or if everything is hunky dory for them?

Version info for my phone:

BT: CXC 162143 R1C

Where have you being using the wireless? At home, at work? Any idea what sort of access points you're connecting to?

I presume you are also on O2 as well then?

It's because you're not connecting properly, I had mine do this resetting lark until I reset the phone to factory settings and messed about with my router.

What did the "messing" involve? What did you change on the router to get the phone to work with it?

I assume mine should have been reset to factory settings when I got it, or do you mean you unbranded the phone?

It's a grey area mate in that I'm not actually 100% sure that I did anything different! A master reset on the phone and then reconfiguring the router (back the exact same way) worked a treat. Have a look at the WLAN thread, there are many entries.

An upgrade to the latest firmware is the real solution... the resetting seems to happen when certain types of networks are in range but this was resolved with R6E30...
