I've always thought my P990 screen resolution is 240x320 / 262k colours until I realized just a few minutes ago that from the system tab, my SMPro reads the screen resolution as 240x320 / 16777216 ~ 16m colours. Am I missing something here?

its not a bug in SMpro... as has been said many times, and its in their faq for the product too, they simply report the value that the operating system call returns to them

what's that supposed to mean? does it say that P990i running on a 16m is confirmed? that's way out of what have listed on their spec, it's a good thing!

but as far as i remember, the SM non-pro version, early days of P990i launch, the system tab reported only a 4096 color mode, any explanation?
hope it's running 16m
the brigtness of P1i screen is good enough to be considered running a 16m color screen though

Which means...? I mean, it's obviously reporting what the OS reads, and it's reporting it in detail, 16,777,216 and not merely 16m, so that's gotta count for something right? Where else on the P990 can we check the colour res aside from SMP anyway?

This information is available on-line and in the white paper.

You think Sony Ericsson lied to you when they said that the screen supports 262K colors? They threw in a 16M display and kept quiet about it?

Yes, I do have the whitepaper and I'm aware of the P990 specs as I mentioned. The question is why is SMP reporting otherwise and at great length?

I've noticed that too in the SMPro 1.60 but I don't care about it and never even asked myself why it reports 16m when every1 knows it's 262k.
Lemme know if you find out, every detail is good to know even if you don't strugle yourself to find out about it:)

It's a bug in smp i think and in se white papers is clearly stated that screen resolution is 262k.

Ups i didn't see masseur's post about smp.
